Day 5 - 30 December - Doha, Qatar

Arrived in Doha this morning... got to see the Pilot boat deliver the Pilot on the way into port... next time I'll have my camera ready!

This afternoon I went on a Dhow Cruise... A traditional wooden dhow, an Arab sailboat traditionally designed with triangular sails, teak or coconut wood masts and hulls made of mahogany or African ekki wood. Ours was a modern version of the ancient two-mast design.  We toured Doha’s crescent-shaped bay, and views of the Corniche’s promenade.  By the way Corniche is my word of the day... used a lot here in the middle east

The most interesting building ...

was this one it was built for the World Cup.  One tower contains the Raffles Doha Hotel, while the other tower contains the Fairmont Doha Hotel.

But the best part of Doha was how all the buildings lit up at night.  Here is a video

Dinner at Red Ginger tonight... Delicious

love the plates... you can never have enough plates :)

Tempura Cod... yummy
and a trio of sorbets... mango, coconut, and pineapple (guess which one I didn't eat)
