Day 14 - 8 January - A mountain, goddess, and palaces

Jam packed day!!!  Started with a 4am wake up call to get to the airport for out flight seeing trip to Mt Everest.

Best laid plans… the weather did not cooperate so instead of  off at 6:15… we left at 9 am - but it was well worth the wait…

The first picture is Mt Everest..

Everest

But next photo is of the ‘holy mountain’ Gauri- Shankar.  The Nepal Standard Time (GMT+05:45) is based on the meridian of this mountain peak, and the whole country is on one time zone!  So they are 15 minutes ahead of India.  And the last peak is  Melungtse.. I just thought it was cool looking

Next it was off to get the blessing of the Nepal living goddess the Kumari.. too much to explain… So I’ve provided a link Kumari Goddess

Here I am receiving my blessing

Next stop was Patan one of the 3 royal cities in the valley.  It was commissioned by the emporer Ashoka (name looks a lot like Ahoska… Star Wars character 😁).  It is a world heritage site.  To many gods, goddesses and reincarnations to remember (thank goodness there wasn’t a quiz!)  some photos of Patan and one of Connie, Joseph and me at lunch.

So there was still another visit to a modern Newari household. And dinner at Sam’s One Tree Cafe with our guide

.. and then back to the hotel for a nightcap with my new German friends … I am spent

  1. A Blessing is fine, but did you get on a prayer list...that's what counts!
